We feel there is a touch of originality to the current status of the project : Slides for a video, a video, clipped, that was embedded in an article, an article with multiple videos remixed, and so on.

On the other hand, we know a problem — that we need to convey these new elements in a way that makes sense to the user, that is familiar to the user in certain ways, so the user can engage, then they shall face new opportunities. So the problem is worse because we can’t just put too much known things to the point of blurring the opportunity, if any.

The Search for Familiar Interfaces for Learning Resources with Interactivity

The purpose of this article is exactly to recognize the importance of understanding the natural ways, situations, mechanisms, platforms, tools, and behaviors when the user is learning with multimodal resources. We want to gather examples of learning with video, with synchronous animations, with interactive systems, to understand what is known and what is working — such a work may be contrasted with the original solutions we are proposing and the aim here is to improve the UX, in the end of the day.

The reasoning for this effort is backed by the notion of familiarity over originality brought by Adam Grant referring to Justin Berg “The most promising ideas begin from novelty and then add familiarity.”
